I was thinking that you might be responding to what I commented about Francisco Varela's video on Consciousness on Metro Punk's link. So I thought either way I would take a shot at answering your question.

In the context I was speaking about a "not answerable question" is one that is beyond the individual's level of conscious understanding. Some aspects of religious devotion might leave certain questions unanswerable because the person does not "live" in the world view which would allow for the answer to be just, or even logical. Some discussions of evolution vs a strict reading of the bible might be a basic example.

But more deeply I would speak about the idea of a question that has conscious (consciousness) implications. Like having someone describe a Satori who has never meditated. Or even describe a mystical experience to someone who does not believe in such things....they are in a sense beyond their comprehension and thus "unanswerable"

To the point of an unanswerable question in your own mind -such as (what is enlightenment?) I would continue to say that once you have a certain realization -..say enlightenment, then the question of "what is enlightenment" is no longer a question. Your level of awareness has changed and the question no longer applies. So it goes from being unanswerable to be no longer a viable question.

Does that make any sense? I have to admit most of my comments are spontaneous and seem to make sense in my mind but may not make any sense to anyone else.

just thank u for answering my question,I know what u say about that ure comments don't make sanse for other people I have experienced that myself,u know in my opinion every individual person has his own unanswerable questions and also there are some common questions,as for myself the mysteries about God isn't answered and I have a long way to go and the time that this question of mine is answered(which I'm not sure it would happen or not)I 'm released since the answer makes lots of difference
however I'd be delighted to recieve ure opinion about this article of mine , maybe we could talk about it together
