I am at the feet of those that breathe deeply and laugh freely, those that deeply trust themselves yet who are flexibile and do not hold tight to ideas of themselves or the moment, those people and situations that challenge me the most and bring forward within my awareness what does not yet know itself as love.
- What will you be doing in 5 years?
- I don't know - I cannot know what I will be doing in one year or five years.
I invoke that if I am still around, - no - i invoke now that my actions/nonactions flow from Silence in connection and service to the greatest good for all and that no preconceptions and agendas of what that is supposed to look like will be in the way of it manifesting to its fullest. The awareness of satchidananda reflects and calls forward its Truth Consciousness into manifestaton. May I be in service to that through whatever it is I do. Loving what is and riding with delight through this lila of Self-evidence.
- I am moving towards being part of a joyous partnership and hearterned and inspired community that plays, cocreates and lives the change that it envisions. It will be interesting to see how all of this all unfolds.
In terms of my profession, I currently teach all levels of ballet to children and adults and I teach and coach professional dancers in a ballet company. I have been a professional ballet and flamenco dancer, an artistic director and choreographer and I have been teaching classical ballet for 30 years. I have done a lot of improvisational dance performance. I use the teaching of dance as a way of evoking self-acceptance, beauty, balance, grace, a sense of unity and love for the process of learning. I acknowledge and nurture the "dancer within" in all of the students regardless of body-type, limited self-belief, or level of training.
I have found that along with proper placement and technique, the awakening of expressive truth, musicality and one's innate creative intelligence are equally important in empowering dancers to use the body as a means of creative self-expression and to extend the grace of dance to all of life. While seeing good technique and the spirit of the movement as an integrated and inseparable whole, I evoke and encourage, right from the beginning levels, the expressive and musical qualities along with the technique.
