About
I live a complex life and try to keep it simple. I am married to the perfect woman. She is witty, smart, cool as hell, and loves me. I am a transplant from Massachusetts to California where I work in systems and operations consulting. I have a son and I am looking forward to teaching him the way of peace and justice. I have recently been paying much more attention to where our technology is heading which has uncovered some interesting philosophical dilemmas. This has led me to helping out by advising at the software development company, Syntience Inc.

hi michael, yea actually i am doing a little bit of self employment now, i was once an artist and am doing it again by painting terra cotta pots and will be trying to sell them, sort of a mix of tribal, mayan, african, makeitupasigoalong sort of thing. are you familiar with don beck's work (spiral dynamics)? first let me say that i dont think a global government is, in an ideal world, necessary. but with all the troubles of varying degrees on many levels we may need one. hopefully it will be based on spiral dynamics-type stuff and not (if even 50% of it is true) illuminati/conspiracy theory type stuff. don beck proposes ( basically) letting each level of sociaety develop relatively naturally on its own with little or no outside influence, i assume he means politics-wise. so in the future, if don becks scenario works out i see quite a few different possible nationstates. there will be the large cities, where technology is still a major influence, futher studies between relationship between science and spirituality, humanitarian aid to smaller developing tribal/nontribal countries. then there will be those in 1st world countries who choose to have little contact with the main population, little technology and less concern with spiritual tudy and more concern with spiritual practice. 3rd world countries will ber confused if the larger nations dont represent green sustainable technology and at least integral thought. ah yea.. that just kind of came to me and i had to get it out.. so how is syntience doing? i will check it out when i have time cuz i'd like to know what you are doing.

hi again michael. after leaving my other comment i checked out your website. i dont have time to read it all but it seems interesting. my idea of ai is limited and i'm sure there are benefits but like anything else there are bound to be hidden dangers. not just in the use of the technology itself but also for the people who develop it. it obviously takes a lot of brainpower and if not balanced with excercise and nonlogical thinking could be unhealthy. i dont know the developers personal lives, i'm just saying. i have a friend who is addicted to hiis computer (ontologies and so forth) and gets depressed because he doesn't get out. anyhow, peace.

hi michael, welcome! i live in wisconsin and just lost my job, trying everything to find a new one, job services, craigslist, etc. any comments about where our technology is heading? i am not a technophobe but i think we could do without a lot of our existing technologies. i think artificial intelligence and that sort of thing is not the way to go. robots doing our work for us is not it either. i also believe space travel is a waste of money, at least while people are hungry.
