I recently picked up a book by this Jesuit priest and scientist, Teilhard de Chardin, "Man's Place in Nature."

It was a quick read, though the language was heavily scientific (but not lacking in meaning). Two main things I've picked up from it: He truly formulated a synthesis of religion and spirituality, through an evolutionary "phenomenology."
